The Quiet One

He’s my first born and the quietest one of all three of them. He’s taller than I am and hands me his hand-me-downs. He’s considerate, kind, gentle, and so so smart. His name is Elie. He will be 14 the end of June. I cannot believe this boy who was a total surprise when he came to this world will be 14 soon! He’s not much in the lime light like I am. He prefers the quiet confines of his room and with his group of friends. However, when I call upon him for anything, he is right there. He helps me film videos, take selfies, clean, and even applies my sunscreen when I need it. I loves video games, riding his bike, watching funny movies, eating icecream (like his mom), and he loves his cats. He has the sweetest smile too. I’ll never forget the day I found out I was pregnant with him. His dad and I were so excited we never left our Toronto apartment. We called everyone and told them the exciting news. My bestfriend, typical nurse that I am, even confirmed the pregnancy at the clinic she worked in. The pregnancy was difficult and the labour was 36 hours, but he was and still is by far the easiest child I have grown to love. Because as moms we grow to love them. It’s a different kind of love when they are inside of us. When they emerge into the great big world and we get to meet them, then a whole new kind of love grows that we had no idea even existed. Well Elie, I love you so much, you know I do, and that’s all you need to know.
